Queenstown.
Queenstown’s reputation arrives before it does: bungee jumps, jet boats, ski fields. But the landscape offers something deeper than a rush. It asks you to pull over, look up, and stay outside longer than you meant to.
Use the town as a doorway rather than a destination. Drive toward Glenorchy, walk a piece of the Routeburn Track, and spend a night among the vineyards near Gibbston. There is always another valley beyond the obvious one.
